Because of it's many appealing properties, UTF-8 is the encoding
form of choice for Unicode in many cases. This presentation
examines and explains the structure and properties of UTF-8
in detail, using examples and experiments. The conditions
for the best use of UTF-8, including security issues, and
UTF-8's actual wide use in standards and in practice are discussed.
The talk also covers the details of the definition of UTF-8 by the
Unicode Standard, by ISO/IEC 10646, and by the IETF (RFC 2279),
recent tightening and clarification efforts, and things that
might look like UTF-8, but are not UTF-8.
