The session introduces the new XForms technology for Web forms. While
today's dominant web usage pattern is "Read-Only", XForms is a powerful
technology to engage Web or intranet users in bi-directional exchange
with some service provider, essentially turning the Web into
"Read-Write" mode.
As an XML-based format for user interaction, XForms encounters new
challenges and provides novel solutions in the cross section of
Internationalization, the Web and XML technologies. One XForms "page"
may combine multiple XML documents with transport over HTTP and user
interaction. These unicode-relevant areas receive special attention in
this presentation. As an example, a transcoding Web server to show
XForms in day-to-day browsers is demonstrated.
As we will see, XForms has the potential to change Web usage on a large
scale. It does so in an internationalized fashion, and it is available
right now.
