Developing Desktop Publishing Software with Unicode

This paper will address issues presented by using Unicode as the
internal encoding for a C/C++ Implementations of Desktop Publishing (DTP) software.
The following issues will be examined from the point of view of
DTP features:
- selecting one or more Unicode encodings for internal use
- dealing with combining characters and normalization
- dealing with multilingual and multiscript text
The talk will give an overview of Unicode support available on
Unix, Windows, and Macintosh for:
- text layout and formatting
- fonts and rendering
- input methods
